I cannot thank you enough Judith for such a wonderful tour. The students and families were extremely happy and the students continued to praise you as our tour guide when we returned. They and we loved everything about the tour and were so grateful to have you! I do hope that this tour becomes apart of our school curriculum, as we have already had students interested in the next tour. Thank you again for such a great trip!

From Michael: Judy was acutely attuned from the beginning, what we wanted to see and do in all the places we visited and she put together such a thoughtful and wonderful itinerary. With her vast experience, she was able to guide us as to how to use our time in Italy in the most exhilarating, fulfilling and most importantly, a beautifully paced fashion. Her choice of accommodation was fabulous, always the quietest but somehow so near everything that was worth seeing. Judy has a vast knowledge of history and culture in Italy. She has a terrific sense of explaining it in an engaging and stimulating way. From Ingrid: I loved the sensation of being dropped back in time, it was being on a guided walk through layers of history, the past and present there all at once, so vividly presented by Judy and the other travel guides that at times I could almost see those much earlier inhabitants before my eyes and feel a connection to them and their day to day lives that stretched beyond time and space.

The new site is great. So clear and wonderful information. Education is the key to life and travel. The Greenaways’ get it right. They are professional, knowledgeable and above all PASSIONATE in what they do. Bravi!!

A first instalment of thank-yous for a most wonderful trip. I am still trying to absorb it all. You both worked so hard to entertain and educate and feed us!

We had a great stay in Florence. The hotel was very good and we tried most of the restaurants you recommended and all were great.

I hope you received my thanks yesterday. It was truly an an amazing experience. Wish I was still there!! I'm sure our paths will cross again in the near future. We are finally home safely after a very long flight and jet lagged of course. On behalf of the staff at Bayswater West and myself I wanted to sincerely thank you for a memorable journey that will remain with us forever. Thank you for your patience, wealth of knowledge that you shared, and organisation  including those pesky, tricky moments that you handled so well. This has definitely been a positive experience for me personally and one that I will continue to learn from. I hope to meet with you again in the near future.

We did love our time in Orvieto and yesterday I found myself telling a friend about the spectacular wall-to-wall frescoes we’d seen…   AND I remembered some of the details…..  Who would’ve thought?? We think of our time with you both OFTEN – it was so lovely……   Of course, there’s something so special about seeing a town through the eyes of a “local”…   Changes everything…..

What a wonderful time in Italy with Judy and Victor.

Orvieto is such a beautiful medieval town, on top of a rock! A must-visit, and I can totally recommend being introduced to both the town and its citizens by the gorgeous Judith and Victor Greenaway of Discovering Italy. We had a ball with them!

I have been meaning to write to you for weeks now. I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone since our truly stunning and unforgettable trip with you both. 

For many years I have had the great pleasure of working with Discovering Italy and I can attest to the fact that the educational experiences they offer to their clients are exceptional. There are few other companies that take such care to insure that clients learn about the sites they visit and that enjoy themselves while they are doing so. Victor and Judith Greenaway . . . have an extraordinary knowledge of Italy, but even more importantly, they understand the ways in which English-speaking visitors can best apprehend and appreciate the country's long history, its unparalleled artistic patrimony, and its rich culture.

During the entire visit I felt secure and extremely well provided for on every level. As an artist I was enriched by the historical and cultural depth of Italy, which was made all the more meaningful due to the professional delivery of the tours, visits to museums, galleries and sites. The directors and support staff associated with Discovering Italy are highly experienced and reliable people who I would recommend without hesitation . . . the tours and programs are of the highest calibre.

Just to let you both know how much we enjoyed our time with both you and Victor while we had our visit to Orvieto and beyond! It really was such a memorable trip, and just having your assistance and insight in regard to places we visited was invaluable! It was good to share dinners and drinks and just learn more about all the places we saw or were going to see.

Thank you both, for attention to the details since the day I entered this magical/miracle city and those priceless gifts that you have given to me. Thank you . . . I hope our friendships will continue and I also hope this so called "3rd Age" hobby will develop to something everyone around me get to appreciated. ;-))), turn dream into reality. I still think of the lovely days we had around Orvieto, Florence and Rome. It was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable trips we have made and there are not too many days that I fail to reflect on some aspect or other of the visit.

The team at www.discoveringitaly.com ensured that our following week included a visit to the local Orvieto markets; a visit to the Carsulae archeological site; a degustation type experience with our own "at table" sommelier to talk us through both the menu and the wines at a restaurant with views to die for! They also ensured that our one day visit to Rome, two days in each Florence and Venice absolutely maximised our desire to fit in as much of the significant historical, artistic and cultural experiences as possible! On reflection we cannot speak highly enough of the value of their service and support. The avoidance of potential pitfalls such as long queues; helping us to plan more efficiently how to achieve seeing what it was we really wanted to see and not losing those desires in the maze of culture which inevitably engulfs you as you enter such hallowed sites! Once we hit Italy there was an absolute smorgasbord on our wish list!! On reflection, we realise more than ever that paying to have as much or as little input from people with the combination of local knowledge, artist and historian was something we had not necessarily contemplated before leaving Australia. With hindsight, when planning our next visit to Italy, making contact with this team would be our first port of call!

We are finally back home in Australia after about another month's travel and I firstly wanted to thank you both for the wonderful experiences we had while in Orvieto. After seeing and experiencing so many things in different places, I have come back home with my experience of tuition with Victor in Orvieto firmly imprinted in my mind as one of the hi lights of our holiday, while Gary really enjoyed the day spent with Judith. He is now so knowledgeable of the history of the city and fills the gaps of my own knowledge . . .Thanks for the apron, Judith, it's been getting a workout and caused a few jealous comments at the Newcastle studio Potters Workshop!

. . . christmas greetings to you and more especially our thanks for a fabulous trip. We spent our last afternoon in Venice at the Academia, and weren't there long before Tilly said 'We need Judith!' . . . I wanted to say how much we both appreciated all your efforts and commitment throughout our trip. I think the after dark excursion to the lace makers shops in the cold weather really summed up the special treatment that we received. We both felt very privileged to have such attentive and engaging guides all to ourselves. It was very special!

We will be on our way to Dubai soon and I have just discovered when going through security that I have another set of keys of the apartment. I am mystified as to how we have another set as I handed Sabrina our keys. It must be a miracle someone wants us to return to Orvieto to hand the keys back . . . Thank you both for the wonderful time you gave us and for sharing your Orvieto experience, lifestyle and stories with us, we will remember and treasure these for a very long time.

Thank you for organising this [our guide in Venice], as it gave us a summary of the history of Venice centred around the Doges Palace, and a intro to getting around Venice by wandering thru Piazza San Marco and towards Rialto, with many tips along the way, which formed the basis of our time there. The afternoon you gave me, using your experience and insight to plan Venice, and even more so for Florence has enhanced our holiday greatly. Your notes, and those I made, for the Uffizzi and your map/guide of eateries and sights made our daily choices easy and without stress . . . While all your help with the above was so very helpful, we cannot say how much we enjoyed our time with you in wonderful Orvieto. Janet enjoyed the time with Victor tremendously, and cannot wait to get her hands dirty again. Your knowledge and the ability to make it real for us was a treat. The shared meals, trips to wonderful nearby towns whose names I cannot remember right now, the laughs, and everything else made Orvieto the highlight of our best holiday ever.
